Shortly after posting about mojitos, a derecho passed through my area.  As I have since learned, a derecho is a type of rare meteological event where a string of storms band together and travels at high speeds.  They are known for their hurricane-type winds, and intense lightening.

It was the most severe and frightening storm I have ever been in.  The lightening was so great that after I lost power, I didn’t even need a flashlight to find my way around my house.   It was like a thundersorm scene from a horror flic.  Not unlike this —

I have been without power since Friday night, and likely will not have it restored until the end of this week.

One Response to “Derecho”

  1. We rode out Ike a couple of years ago and were without power for over two weeks. It is like living in the 1930’s all over again. An interesting experience, we got to know our neighbors better because everyone stayed outside more. Interesting, but we were very glad to get our power back.
