FTC fines NY funeral home
A Brooklyn funeral home has agreed to pay a $32,000 penalty to the Federal Trade Commission after it allegedly refused to provide services for customers who bought caskets elsewhere.
Under the Funeral Rule, funeral homes are not allowed to require consumers to purchase items as a condition for obtaining other services.
This is a strong statement that the FTC is going to actively be enforcing the Funeral Rule. A $32,000 fine for one violation is pretty steep.
