Texan prisoner loses vampire lawsuit

The Houston Chronicle reports that a “federal appeals court has rejected as frivolous a civil rights lawsuit from a Texas prisoner who argued he was being barred from practicing religious beliefs related to vampires.”

Courtney Royal aka “Vampsh Black Sheep League of Doom Gardamun Family Circle Master Vampire High Priest” sued Texas prison administrators and officials claiming that they denied him his right to practice “‘West African spiritualism and 18th Century Catholicism’ marked by prayer to Africans reincarnated by blood.'”

Mr. Royal argued that his beliefs were no different from “unproven” Christian beliefs.

  1. I hope this is a joke…

  2. I don’t know how you find these bizarre, but totally fun legal news, but it’s such a welcome treat from LSATs and trying to ram my head with law materials. Thank you. 🙂
