DIY Cross Stitch iPhone Case

One of my friends alerted me to a unique way to protect an iPhone — a cross stitched case.

There is apparently a DIY kit available for the iPhone.  You can find it at this link.  Even if you don’t need one, you likely have someone on your holiday gift list who would love one.

The patterns available aren’t so bad.  It looks like they have some Halloween and Mario Brothers designs.  But what if you want to make your own design.  ThinkGeek has this cool suggestion for a pattern:

So the question is, how does one go about getting a unique pattern for their iPhone case?

Try finding a pattern you like that will fit the canvas in the DIY kit. This etsy store has a lot of fun cross stitch patterns that appear small enough to fit on an iPhone.   If you want a more exact fit, you could contact an etsy store owner to see if they would design a custom cross stitch pattern.

Or you could design your own pattern from scratch.  At this link, there is a quick video on how to do it.

I roll android, not iPhone. But I am going to try to make a similar case.  It doesn’t appear that there is a similar cross stitch kit available for my phone but I have the Siouxsie Law Craft Department hard at work on this.  If we can figure out how to do it, I’ll probably go the biohazard route.

  1. Thank you for putting a link to my Etsy store in your blog.

You are very right about seeing if a shop owner will custom design something, we do it all the time.

Also, thanks for the idea of designing for iPhone cases!
