Goths attacked in the UK

The Ultimate Goth Guide reports a group of men savagely attacked two goths on board a tram in England.

A gang of three men shouted abuse at the friends as they waited at a Metrolink platform.

The victims, a man aged 29 and a woman of 22, were followed as they boarded a tram then viciously assaulted.

The woman was head-butted before one thug stamped on her face five times. She suffered a fractured eye socket.

Her friend was punched to the ground then kicked about the face and body as he lay injured between two seats of the tram.   [source]

I do not understand what makes people do things like this.  I don’t get it.  Are goth bashers and gothaphobes similar to gay bashers and homophobes?  Meaning, are they just mean-spirited closet cases?  It just doesn’t make sense to me.

  1. I was not happy about this. I had to check on my gothlings in Manchester and so far no one knew her personally, we are all saddened by this outrage and I hope justice is served and I hope a speedy recovery to her and her friend.

  2. From what I’ve encountered of people who attack like this, they’re generally the sort who will single out anyone who is noticeably different, and Goths are just particularly obvious.
