Maryland family alleges that Casketsite.com failed to deliver casket

Via WBAL-TV — When you are burying your mother, you don’t want anything to go wrong.  One Maryland family claims that they were unable to bury their mother because an on-line casket retailer did not deliver the casket they ordered.  Without a casket, the funeral had to be delayed.  The family alleges that Casketsite.com never delivered the casket they ordered.  Instead of burying their mother in a pink casket (like she wanted), the family had to get a blue one from a local funeral home.  My heart goes out to the family.  I fully understand the tragedy of not getting  the color you want.  I do not want to be in anything other than a black urn.  Any other color of urn would make me and the ones I leave behind very sad.  The Funeral Consumers Alliance suggests not paying for a casket until it is delivered.  Or, I guess you could just order a casket from Walmart.

  1. Wow. If there’s one line of work in which you REALLY have to deliver…

WalMart’s casket prices don’t seem too bad! Selection is limited though, and I plan to be pretty picky (unless they just end up turning me into goo, which would be fine). 😉

  2. It is stuff like this that make me think that you should only be able to sell caskets in the where your business is located and/or only from a mortician.
