Givenchy Goodness — Spring 2011
- From The Wall Street Journal:
Who is the Givenchy woman? She’s kinky and Goth and difficult to live with because she’s a drama queen with a dark penchant for expensively tailored clothes. A little Prozac might take the edge off, but then, who would buy blazers emblazoned with zippers – many of them – across the front, or layer vests over zippered blazers, or zippered skirts over long elegant slim pants that gradually widen toward the calf, or wear transparent lengths of fabric strapped to her back with leather belts?
Givenchy, as created by Riccardo Tisci, has to be deconstructed to be understood. The woman to whom the shows seem to appeal hardly exists – and if she does, she can’t afford Givenchy.
Hey WSJ, she exists. She’s right here. Your research department has let you down.
The collection is great. Riccardo Tisci does goth well. He uses lots of black, layers, zippers and animal prints. There are also shear pants. It shouldn’t work, but it does. Check out the video below…
