de Blob Is Everywhere

Siouxsie is a big fan of the game de Blob.

In de Blob the evil I.N.K.T. Corporation as declared color a crime.  de Blob must save the monochromatic grey city by splattering buildings with color.

Here is the trailer:

Recently, Siouxsie was reminded of de Blob when she saw the video promoting the Let’s Color Project, “a worldwide initiative to transform grey spaces with vibrant colour. A mission to spread colour all over the world.”  The video looks just like the game.  Well, sort of.

In other de Blob related news, the creators recently announced that de Blob’s sequel will arrive next year —

The sequel picks up roughly where the first game left off, with one notable difference. Blob now has a sidekick–a sassy flying robot named Pinky–to help him in his quest for world colouration. The game opens with Blob and Pinky arriving in a vast metropolis populated by some very disgruntled and downtrodden citizens; it doesn’t take long for the pair to discover that something is rotten in the state of Prisma City. Indeed, Blob’s old enemy Comrade Black has staged a comeback, forming a religious cult named The Blanks and is trying to convince citizens to give up their colour to find the true meaning of life. In an excellent parody of modern economic thought and numerous nods to Christianity, Scientology, modern society, consumerism and Adam Smith’s Wealth of Nations, de Blob sets about trying to rid the city of its dark, depressive state by sabotaging Black’s plans to win the favour of the people.  [Source]

Sounds like a hit.

  1. I didn’t know about the video or the sequel. good post.

  2. OMG o noes, you’re spoiling your goff image!
    Colorz is not goff!

    • Nothing to worry about there.

      • Pardon me, English not being my [primary] language, I don’t get meaning&tone of what you wrote.
Or, possibly, I don’t get the joke, if any.
        Would you care to explain?

(My not being a speaker of English is also very much ungoff, now that I think of it, I know)

BTW, I’m starting to develop a serious addiction to your blog.
Keep churning out great posts, please 🙂

  3. Hear, hear for colour!! Even though I, too, like to wear black a lot. If the whole world was black I wouldn’t be happy, and would have to be subversive by wearing bright yellow and pink and such 😉
