The Story of a Girl and a Little Black Dress
Sheena Matheiken wanted to do something that mattered. So, to raise money to help children in India’s slums attend school, Ms. Matheiken combined a fashion challenge with a fundraising effort. She created the Uniform Project. CNN reports,
[Ms. Matheiken] sported a simple, tunic-style dress for not one, two or three days. She did it for 365 days in a row.
The New York resident gave herself the fashion challenge of reinventing the same black dress. She did it by adding colorful tights, funky shoes and patterned tops, all donations from eco-friendly designers, thrift shops and mail-in leftovers from strangers.
What is not to love? Siouxsie has a weakness for little black dresses and is always looking for new ways to change up the look. All 365 of Ms. Matheiken’s outfits are incredible. Check them out.
More important, the Uniform Project raised enough funds to send 233 children to school for a year.
