Feed the Children Founder and Anti-Porn Crusader Rev. Larry Jones Sued for Taking Bribes and Hiding Porn

Reverend Larry Jones' research materials.

Feed the Children is the 7th largest charity in the United States.   You have seen their infomercials.  But what you may not know is that the American Institute for Philanthropy (AIP), a charity watchdog organization, declared Feed the Children “the most outrageous charity” in America.

And now Feed the Children is in the middle of a very messy lawsuit.

This past November, Feed the Children fired its founder/director/president Reverend Larry Jones.  Just days later, he turned around and slapped a wrongful termination lawsuit on Feed the Children.

As reported at this link, on December 28, 2009, Feed the Children filed a counterclaim in response detailing all the reasons it fired Larry Jones, including claims that he was taking bribes and hiding porn at the charity.  Feed the Children alleges that Larry Jones, a known anti-porn crusader,  hid incest porn, as well as hardcore porn in his office.  Among the publications  found were  “Family Affairs, Taboo’s Family Heat, Best of Family Touch, Penthouse Secret Fantasies, The Penthouse Sex Files, Penthouse Forum, Best of Forum Letters, Penthouse Letters, Penthouse, Penthouse Variations and Playboy.” Generally, Siouxsie is a live-and-let-live kind of gal, but incest porn?  Ick.

Larry Jones claims he needed these publications for research  — he is writing a book on HIV in Africa.  Makes perfect sense.

Feed the Children also accuses Jones of “misspending charity funds, pocketing travel money, keeping gifts from appearances and misusing a charity employee as a nanny.”

His interest in incest porn is particularly fascinating given allegations that he may have misappropriated massive amounts of charity funds to give to his kids.

As reported by AIP

  • Allen Jones, Larry Jones’ son, was employed by Affiliated Media Group, which received $40 million annually from Feed the Children for television spots;
  • Allen Jones received $950,000 loan or promissory note from Feed the Children to finance a framing business that he later assumed and defaulted on;
  • Allen Jones had a charity credit card and used the charity’s offices, equipment, vehicles, and storage space.  He also used approximately 17,405 square feet to store “his pontoon boat, sea doos and other personal items”; and
  • Larri Sue Jones, Larry Jones’s daughter, received a $1.2 million home in Burbank, California from Feed the Children donations.

Larry Jones didn’t forget about his wife either.  Feed the Children’s Board expressed “a concern that [his wife] [worked] [a] relatively low number of hours . . . in relation to her compensation paid,” $182,952 plus $4,100 expense account . . . .” and that it “might draw unwanted attention from the IRS . . . .”
This clip is fantastic. Larry Jones explains in his own words that there is a surplus of everything; you just have to move it around.  Well done Larry Jones, that is apparently what you did.

Stay tuned to watch this televangelist’s on-going fall from grace.  And, for heathen’s sake, do not give your year-end donation to Feed the Children.

Larry Jones was fired Friday from the charity he founded 30 years ago. He plans to sue to try to get his job back.

  1. Siouxsie, let’s not throw the baby out with the bathwater. Just because Senor’ Jones was misbehaving doesn’t make Feed The Children a bad charity.

    It sounds like a case of somebody’s ego getting in the way of what started out as a noble venture. But I think the organization is big enough and efficient enough to do just fine without him.

    I think Feed The Children is doing what they claim they are doing. I don’t think Senor’ Jones was. Punish him but not the organization.
